A walk in the outside this evening made me realize

That I won’t be able to write about Nepal
Right away.
When we paint the details
We can’t see the whole painting as one
Or talk about it.
That’s how I feel right now.

Smiling at the thought of M.Mommy’s message
Like a teenage girl thinking of her crush.
The world around blurs and the winter chill sets in.
That’s how I am.

Nepal, The Land Of No Return

Now these drawings are making me sick. Love sick. Nepal love sick. I can't write about my trip. Everyday we (M and me) are trying to live a bit of it. I miss Nepal too much. The dogs, the people, the climate, the time, the shopping, the food, the love. I don't like Bombay. I don't like the people, the climate, the time, the shopping, the food. There is no love here for me. I think I left my Knight of Pentacles in Thamel. In the process of accepting my surroundings, will write about the soul search soon.

Christmas wishes

This Christmas, I write a prayer
for everyone who reads this post,
may they find love, friends,
and peace with themselves.
May this night lead you to mornings
blessed with the warmth
of smiles and laughter
that come from sharing your life
with people you love.

Merry Christmas!
Sending everyone lotsa love,
chamki

The big night is here and the big stuff is done. Clothes, music, identification, a book, money, travel journal, camera, winter wear, shoes, tooth brush. All in. Am I missing something? A look at the weather and you can freeze just by the thought of it. Here have a look...
This is what I leave behind

The song I'm listening to

You and your sweet smile
You and all your tantalizing ways
You and your honey lips
You and all the sweet things that they say
You and your wild wild ways
One day you just up and walked away

You felt me hurting
But I can forgive you for that now
You taught me something
Something took me half my life to learn
When you give all yourself away
Just tell them to be careful of your heart

Be careful of my heart
Be careful of this heart of mine
Be careful of my heart
heart
It just might break and send some splitters flying
Be careful of my heart
heart
Be careful

You you you
You you you
You you you
Took my love
Thought you took it all

You you you
You you you
You you you
Took my love
And now you're gone

But I'm not breaking down
And I'm not falling apart
I just lost a little faith
When you broke my heart
Given a chance
I might try it again
But I wouldn't risk it all this time

I'd save
A little love for myself
Enough for my heart to mend
A little love for myself
One day I just might love again
One day some sweet smile might turn my heart
One day I just might give all myself away
One day
One day
One day
~Tracy Chapman.
I wish I knew how to add this song to the blog.
I wish I knew how to make all of you hear it.

Sticky notes from my head

Having a blog makes me
comfortable with the many faces of me.
The face I like
The face I don’t
The face you know
The face you don’t.
Makes me understand that
it is ok
To share all bits of me
As I am
With the people I know
Or don’t as yet.
It breaks the protective projection
Mission agenda and lets the picture
Build bit by bit in people’s minds.

XXX

The most interesting thoughts occur to you
when you can't put them down.
While you study for your exams,
bathe, travel or sleep.

Love Sick Century

This century
of half empty hearts
half full times
and seeming happy families
tells me much less than
the past.
It is why I wish
to be born in the past.
Sometimes I think
We need a war.

A sticky note from my head.
When my daughter was about seven years old, she asked me one day what I did at work. I told her I worked at the college - that my job was to teach people how to draw. She stared at me, incredulous, and said, "You mean they forget?" ~Howard Ikemoto

Well, i'm not man, but here's something for you, "chamki"

Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou
Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say,
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman

Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.
Someone left this for me HERE on Mahima's blog!
Thank you anonymous
you are a phenomenal woman too.

The last few days are busy patches of rush, dust, eroding wind and boring classes sandwiched between James' and Peter's emails in the morning before I leave for college and Purva's emails in the evening. So much to look forward to.

Thank you angels.

There is something real big shaping up. But I don't want to tell you guys just yet. Take your time to guess. Leave them as comments. People who know don't say it!

The pressure and the expectation of the 300th post has prevented me from writing anything for the blog these days. I thought about what is interesting enough to blog and mark as the 300th. Well… the answer I got is my life! My life, at least to me is or should be of primary concern. With great difficulty I shut out people who are not into me but occupy too much mental space and began writing this post. This post is meant to be like one of my free writing sessions for my Stream Of Consciousness book. This post is timed, I write all that I can think about in 10 minutes. I talk about what realizations I had had recently, being 20 something now.

To list them roughly

  • I don’t think finding love is going to be easy. With more and more people shaking my belief in something called love I doubt sometimes (brief but significant) its existence. It is too complicated and calculated now. I don’t know how I can fall crazy in love with anyone now, knowing what happened in the past. I do fall in love with people all the time. Several at the same time even. But they…
  • I don’t have any friends. A few genuine people who love me but live far away in time and space. A few who I may be separated from in the coming months. A few who I think are friends but are really not. A few whom I upgrade to being a friend too soon and get disappointed by. A few who just don’t care but hang around. Mahima, Pallavi are there I know. I hope we can keep in touch later.
  • At the end of the day, I am lonely. Not one, but in a sense half. Half of me against me.
  • Everyday I break and build and break again.
  • I’m saturated with philosophy, Chinese food, my daily commute and being lovesick.
  • I am sticky. I cling to people who don’t really like me and then force them to like me. I hate them because they don’t like me enough. I hate myself really.
  • I want to spend most nights on the road, walking and singing.
  • I don’t know what I plan.
  • I can never plan.
  • There are a few people I really love and I show them that.
  • There are very few people who want to be loved.
Ok. 10 minutes up. I can’t edit it so… best of luck guys

Last night's reading with M

This is my mind in tarot. Anyone is free to do a reading.
These are the reasons I have been like I have been.
The cards in the top row are how I am on the outside and
how am I dealing with what I feel.
The card at the base is the subconscious reason for the state.

The reading I got said
I am making large issues small.
Avoiding them. Not facing them.

All the cards in the reading are major arcana.
This says a lot in itself.

Fingers crossed.
Chamki.

A life in conversation

It's true. My life is my conversations. At a cafe, for hours with a friend who says he is a good listener. He is. Chatting with a friend online, for hours, about work, life, lack of love, money and tarot. Emails to friends far away, every morning, some in the evenings too. Phone calls to eastern cities, to the south of my city. Endless conversation with myself. Talking to my plants, singing, bathing them, even having a tea party. Praying. Talking to the angels, to the moon every night and the sun each morning. Bathing. Yes bathing is talking too. Conversations with people who don't write to me. People who are far yet near. I can talk to them, all the time. Smiles. Sitting quiet. Sitting quiet is saying most, even things you wouldn't say. Talking to the girls at dance class. Making jokes about the real issues. The occassional conversations with parents. Usually they aren't conversations. And conversations with you. Here.

On a day like today

Emails from far away lands
US and Ireland
Lotsa love to share with
All the people I pass.
The watchman gets a smile, not just a nod,
The conductor gets a smile too!
The canteen wala gets a little conversation,
The messages are filled with hugs and "love you!"
The bus ride makes me want to get a massage but...
All ends well when Chamki walks home in time for dinner
With bags full of mags!
Thank you for the love, my angels.
Thank you.
On a day like today,
Here is some homework for all of you who read the blog.
Go to the folder where you save your music on your computer.
Do a search for the words that make your day today.
Any word about your day.
I did KISS ,SMILE and BACK
My play list looks like this.
KISS
KISS FROM A ROSE
WE KISS IN A SHADOW

BITTER KISS

AND THEN YOU KISSED ME

GUILTY KISSES

SMILE
GOD PUT A SMILE ON YOUR FACE

SMILE

SMILES

HOLLABACK GIRL

COMING BACK TO LIFE

SEXY BACK
IN THE BACK SEAT
LOVER, COME BACK TO ME

BACK TO LIFE

Go ahead try it. It'’s the littlest thing you can do
To make a more happy you.

The Promise of the Machine

A machine has never touched us so intimately before
Just as I realize that we run for the ineffable to the computer
I also realize how it fails to marvel us
like the real pink skies
how it fails to astound our solitude
like the long shadows of trees;
the computer is at best a vain promise
and the blog is a green leaf of light
which never shrivels or grows soft
but becomes leaden with a heavy death.
There are so many minds trying to trap the spark
so many hearts bouncing off the monitors
and even as they don’t belong, they hang on
like bees flying for the sun
get wound up in the glitter of a sunlit web.

-Ankur Betagiri

Thank you Ankur
for this gift on a not-so-good day.

Bits of writing that never made it to the blog

This November
It rains strange.
The moon a chalice,
Fills up bright
Ambiguous glow light.
The cable wires
Cut right through
My grey and white
Night sky view.
The words, they hang
Just above my head
like buzzing mosquitoes.
Faint meanings and sounds.
The day sliced into two
One you love
One you do.

The world seems a cold and broken hallelujah
and life a play within a play.

***

Some evenings you wake up to find yourself a year ahead.
The season has changed.

***
Some days you wish you could believe its ok to run away.

Sleeping in worry isn't sleeping really.

See you at 8, A.K.

A.K.
My chitter chatter at night
My twinkly moonlight
My reason to debate
and create
You are often late
But worth the wait.
Don’t worry about the weight
Or the fate.
There are things larger
Than things we hate.
They are things
Greater than great,
All out to help us

Find our soul mate.

Mail to: Jay Healy

Jay
My morning delight
My substitute sunlight
My reason to wake
Sweet like
Seasonal cake
Don’t stay up too late
Go to sleep
For the world’s a better place
In your dreams

This night blue and grey

This night
Blue and grey
Spent tracing
Aeroplanes.
This night
Blue and grey
Spent chasing
Cars.
This night
Blue and grey
Spent
staring
at stars.
This night
Blue and grey
Spent w
eaving
word with word.
This night
Blue and grey
Spent with music
Never heard.
This night
Blue and grey is
Spent
waiting
For the sun.

Alone tonight

Tiny yellow specks of light
Against the dark
A million windows
each a house,
each a home
to people alone
in the night
alone tonight.

Pink Nights

Many nights
I have spent staring out
into the sky.
Not a starry sky,
A cloudy pink.
Pretty nevertheless.
I wish to walk out
of my home
and feel the night breeze
walk the empty streets
soak the pink sky
and the full moon.
Drive to a place far away
sing along the way
Lie on grass
and count the stars.
Dim your lamps ,
let the night shine.
I want to see the stars
on the shivering lake.
The fireflies, the twinkle
of the candle-light in your eyes.
I want to climb a mountain,
hold the moon in my spoon
greedy gobble, chew, plate,
phew!
I want to make the sky my slate,
scribble, draw, doodle
Oh Mumma it's not too late!
To 'M'
Thank you

There is something about Lova and surprises

Somethings are easy. Like bungee jumping, killing a cockroach, standing on the 19th floor of a building blindfolded, and keeping a secret. But you ask me to keep my mouth shut about a surprise and it seems impossible. I need to have a couple of packets of chewing gum, coffee, and some music to keep me calm. I even have an assistant to help me with my Surprise Projects. Lova, (name changed to maintain dignity, besides this is what I call him)an angry young chap with a chiseled face, a little too chiseled sometimes (poor guy he is going to be reading this) and who easily passes off as someone you have never and will never see again in your life. Perfect!

So... the plan is all set. The surprise wrapped . All preparation done. I have gone over the plan more than twice but there is one thing about Lova, poor guy is jinxed as my assistant- he can never get it done in one go, either he forgets the address or to wake up in time to deliver the flowers and write messages on the road with chalk, or misses the man by a minute and has to come back to me. I always have to face my biggest anxiety maker, my evil twin, my Mogambo, my Count Dracula- The SURPRISE!

We walk back and do some damage control.

The worst part is when your surprise is half done. The packet left outside and the joke is on you. You have to wait till people come home settle down on their couches and realize that there can be a box with goodies waiting for them. They may decide to open it after dinner, bath, feeding the dog, trimming their toe nails, the dentist's appointment or the Simpsons on TV. You of course are supposed to savour this precious moment! I can’t. I simply can’t that’s why I am writing this post - to spend these sickening moments of endless wait.

And it’s the same every time! Every surprise. Poor Lova must have written a million angry letters to the Indian Government about his degrading job. I like the government for not being bothered sometimes- they think people should fight and learn, just like children. I agree.

I always manage to leave enough clues despite the paranoia. Let’s hope my surprisee -even though he is a scriptwriter, a shark, and a Don- hasn’t read much mystery fiction.

Blogs

These little things floating
in the air
in the middle of nowhere
sharing a million lives with mine
sometimes just make me want to smile.

This post is for blogs
and all the friends I made
thanks to their existence.

Untitled

My head these days
Cuts, hacks, collates
And neatly puts things in place.
Some dreams
Some thoughts
Some people
Are wrapped in pretty paper.
Some thoughts
Unsent letters
Backs of photographs
Lie like yesterday's newspaper.
Some thoughts preserved to ponder over
Some thoughts with no feeling whatsoever.
The slashing, hacking, slicing, ripping
Like the song of the construction worker
Is a slow hum that doesn't bother
And is drowned out by music.

Mrs. Mendanha? Mrs Rustomjee? Mrs. Aggarwal? Mrs. Ismail? Mrs. Kirtikar?

So is today the day I get my cheque?
Is today the day I help an old lady
cross the road?
The one who lives alone in a
big old haunted bungalow?
She has no children who
can inherit it
and leaves it all to me!
Then I give one room
to artists who don't
have a studio,
to (nice) theatre people
who don't have space to rehearse,
To kids who don't have a place
to put up a tent or fly kites,
To people like me who want to
hoolah hoop, buy music instead
stealing it from the internet,
travel to far away fantasies
Or read in peace.
A house where we paint the walls,
grow wild plants not manicured grass
put some sugar in our bowls.
A place where we make friends, cook together,
have a little of our dreams fulfilled
and do a little of what we think is impossible.
Fluteman,
every note that you stretch
with your breath
is like your eyes
outline my lips
the kind that leads to a kiss.

I found another little thing.
Hindu mythology and Greek mythology
have a lot in common.
Even my name
Divya,
divine in Hindi,
Diwya or Di-wi-ja,
divine in ancient Greek.

Athena told me this.
on this link you will see that she is also
related to Diwya.
These days posts are just short messages
to whoever is listening.

Abundantia's grace

The Goddess has blessed.
The new beads.
The new dress.
The smile.
The golden caress
round my neck.
Stress
now has a new address.
Not mine.
Thank you,
Abundantia.
This makes the mess
a little less
in my head.
Help me
and guide me
to success.
Help my friends too,
who do not possess
what they need.
Love and tender care.
Help them breathe
Oh Goddess of excess!

Friday, October 13, 2006, 1:33 am.

Watermelon moon,
Abundantia
A strange sort of
Contentment
And hope.
Mindless conversation.
Typer sharks.
New metal prayer box.
New beads
Blessed by her.
New to do list.
New friend.
New faith.
New obstacles everyday.
Hey Jude, they say,
Don't make it bad,
Take a sad song
And
Make it better.

This thought of you

This thought of you
Is warm like honey
And yellow
Like a beam of the rising sun
So mellow.
This thought of you
Makes me smile
Like you are here by my side
Frying an egg
And washing the dishes.
You loved to.
The pink walls
Of your house were just as strange
As you were,
You funny fellow.
Why do you live so far away
And yet so near.
The distance is too close
To not know you're here
And too far to hug.

You in US

You
A circle
Begin and end
love and are loved
always

I know you taste
Like a sip of wine
And dew.

I know you know
And you smile
While I smile
Worlds away from you.
I know you know
I love you

You in US
You in us
You in me
You my memory

Can't just can't.

I make excuses to feel ok
about looking at myself fail
little by little.
With no reason
for my restlessness
I stand in the middle of
a million OK people
wondering why I can't be OK.
Knowing what I have to do,
Not doing it.
Witnessing my defeat
against myself.
I win
I lose

Today is strange.
At 1am I can hear crickets and dogs.
In a city like Bombay where it is difficult to hear
yourself talking, this is very strange indeed.
If there is a time, place and feeling that spells nothingness
then it is now, here and this.

With nothing to say,
nothing to do,
I end my day,
having achieved...
nothing.

25th September

Last year, today was to be the last day of my life.

The Lovers and Memory

I
You, my fake lover,
Erased bits of you
From me
Willingly.
Plucked the light
Out of the sun for me,
Drained the love
From the rain
For me.
You came in my dream
This morning,
The sinful embrace
Leaves me mourning.
You lied.
I'’ll never trust you
And your memory,
Which appear invariably.

II
You, my distant forbidden fruit,
Are imprinted on me.
You, never let me know you,
never wrote or called,
Never lied,
But remain forever
The liar.

III
You, who loved me,
And let me be,
Were a dream,
Mine and yours,
But not all dreams
Are dreamt.
You walked with me,
And still do in memory,
You will never die.

IV
You, who don'’t know,
What you mean to me,
Are more than what you think,
You are the sun - XIX embodied,
Joy, poetry, fondness childlike.
You are not yet memory.

Inspired by a post on M's blog.
Love the format itself.
I think there will be more of these.
There is one already
in my head.

Letters to Lovers

I
To my fake lover,
There is always a pocket in me
Full of love
When you were near
It was empty
Now its full
I don't know which way is better

II
To the one I cannot love,
You, the forbidden fruit
forever tempt me
from your land far far away
from your presence in the absence.
Your name, your perfume
like your memory
forever lingers
around me.

You, who I cannot love,
I love so dearly.

Come, live with me.

III
You, who love me,
and yet let me be,
are brave and true.
I pray for you,
to find someone who
will love you.

IV
Those who don't know
I love you,
Let me just say it,
I love you

Note to self and God

Dear God,
After 1 hour of non-stop riyaz I feel like a good girl worthy of some sleep.
Help me and other young and confused minds to focus on things they want to
do and achieve.
Most people my age are distracted , disappointed and depressed.
Help us to face our trouble and refrain from the indulgences which make us sacrifice things we strive for. May we never have to do anything that makes us guilty.
Thank you, for the 2 silly girls who follow me with their smiles every evening and treat me to some of the best times I can have. I ask you to always keep those smiles on their faces, not just for me to see, but for the whole world to benefit. I'm sure the world won't be pretty without them.
Thank you, for having people to inspire me from lands far far away. For the people who make me write mail after mail, post after post, poem after poem (even in my broken English and torn French)
Thank you, for all the art I have been fortunate to experience, without which I wouldn't be me.
Thank you, for all the complexities in my life, all the heart breaks and difficult situations. Without these, the story of my life wouldn't be as interesting.

Thank you for ice creams, colour, dogs, cats, music, Yoga and Kathak instructors, calculators, and memory.
Love you,
chamki

Divya, you will never be a dancer

Today's class was disappointing. I was disappointing.
When will I take things seriously?
My attitude pisses me off.
It's time I do something big and shake myself.

I don't have a cell phone anymore. I gave it up.
So people who are not able to reach me should email.
I won't be wasting time on the internet- Only 15 mins in the morning and 15 mins in the night.
(This is not the big thing. The big thing will be decided after tomorrows class)

Peoms and the Mammy

Poems can be upset
They have lives, you see
You pull them a bit to the left
And out of the window they be.
They stand on their head
And feed off your bed,
Listen to your plants sing
Sniff leftovers from the bin.
You think they’re thin
And will squeeze in
But they’re not
I have tried,
And I’ve fought.

Tell the Mammy,
Poems are many,
She may not like any,
But pretty poets
A few.
And disagree
If she dare be
Ask her to take a look at you!

The book

The ink pen on rest.
Email arête.
I spend evenings out instead
with friends
a bucketful of sky
And a tub of ice cream

Life has been a strange kind of fun
I don’t even know I’m numb
No scribbles
A few doodles
And a strange mix of time
I squeeze in a few lines
But I’m just busy being busy

The tree
The blue and
The new white cloud
Transport me
To a land far far away
Of thoughts
And impossibility

But thoughts, like air bubbles
Escape.

The sandwich
The cookie
The indulgence
The stupidity
The books
The smell of glue
The bits of paper
That flew

The dogs that drool
The kids from school
All have a place
At least I have a book
My saving grace

Out of anyone, can anybody find their home?

Warning: Diary Style
Today was just one of those days - Blah!
I said all the wrong things.
I mean I meant to say
them differently.
But I sounded pompous-
like someone I knew
a little while ago.
May be it's because
I have been listening
to our music these
days.
But if I could tell you guys that
I didn't mean them like this
would you believe me?

I hate it.
Don't know what the IT is.
But it's all around me these days.
A feeling of not controlling things,
of not knowing what is happening and why.
I wish it was as simple as you call it- PMS.

From my notebook

Post Secret # 2

Dear Liar,
I know this will never reach you just like me. I don't know where you are and how you are. I hardly know who you are.
I have to say this. I love you more than myself. More than my life. More than ice cream. More than the hung-over breakfasts at Crepe Station.
I am writing this letter and posting it to a random address.
I know it will reach you in some way.

Yours,
XXX
Liar = SA.
not to be confused with S.
he didn't lie, I just called him liar.

What does your playlist say?

On a day I wear black around all my eyes
and fill my bag with coloured paper
my playlist says:

On a day like today
Where did you go
Bedshaped
Sunshine
This is the last time
Your eyes open
Everybody's changing
We might as well be strangers
Lost in translation
Nothing in this world
all of the above are songs.

You and me

You and me
eternity
I evaporate you
You extinguish me

Page of Cups
Page of Wands

I'm not a singer I hush

I give you a piece of me with every smile
and when you walk with her
and every time to you talk
to your respective her
that piece of me
is flushed out of my life.

Every little thing I write
to you is not my intelligence.
Every time I say I miss you
its not to be polite or to end the letter.
Every time another he another she
walk down the road hand in hand
and a piece of me lies crushed.
I oil my hair
they gather dust.
I avoid metals
they rust.
Burnt cake crust
tastes just like my hush,
the singers are the winners.

Death of a Teenager

What I am doing listening to Nick Drake
I should listen to some really loud rap, hip hop
and rock, which I usually don't do
Because these are my last hours of being a teen!

A day like today

We still make stories like candy floss
Layer over layer
Trying to secrete the layer beneath.
A day like today remained unthought-of.
A day when I call your brother
For your home number
And you ask me my name.
Every image around you
Is a picture framed
Telling our story.
I state the case
Not exaggerate.
I come to take my cycle home
It’s chained to your gate
Rusted and lifeless.
I ask for the key
To the trapped being.
Trapped by three long bamboos
The three of wands.
He moves the bamboos,
Chips of your home fall to grey
Making a hole in your wall
The pigeon egg that lay
In the basket of my cycle
Was wet and unborn.

Bcc: BBB (I mailed to my friend today)

if you are quiet
make sure your teeth are white
for when you'll smile
everyone will know
that it's been quite a while
since you
brushed your teeth!

Ed.

On days like today
When I don't know
What to do and
Who to be,
I cling to anonymity
and realise it's not easy
to not be famous
with a name like
Chamko Rani.

Ed saves me
From being mislead,
He brings a smile
Every evening
At five.
Ed is my love monkey.

I am transparent
I feel what the music wants me to feel
I think what you say.
I am a post-it
You put me on your fridge
And leave.
I am liquid in a cup
Pour me down.
I am the coin you tossed
At the river.

With me

I live like the hanged man
Suspended
With the weight in my head
Nothing to say
Candy doesn’t lighten me
Chocolate doesn’t taste.
I sink
Descend
Drop
Submerge
Within myself
Within the hollow in my stomach.
My words are lost here
In cyber space
With no one to feel what I feel
with me.

These things I cant say

Moments don’t leave
They are not people
They are places.
I’m in another city
On my bed.
Its real
Its not in my head.
Little pictures
That we often forget.
Passing a street in a bus
Looking at purple flower trees.
The smallest second when you
Pull your hair behind your ear.
It doesn’t feel the same.
The curtain moves with the wind.
It isn’t memory
For it’s not you, or him
It’s the river, the lane.
Only the soundtrack
No picture story.
The song,
More than song.
This feeling more than pain.

Attention Attention

Chamko Rani,
Queen of all heart shaped red balloons reveals a way to Her heart.
The Queen has been mesmerised by the song - L' effondrement by Yann Tiersen feat. Dominique A.
Unfortunately She has heard only a piece of it.
Anyone who can get this song to the Queen gets a piece of Her heart- and a portrait
by Her Highness.

I live like a song on repeat

All those times. How easy it is for them to come back. They slip in through the crack in the door, and the gap in the window, the chip in my mug. They get all the love and fill my eyes. The truth that I despise. I lost. Your things they still lie around like it’s the same time. Yet it isn’t .You and me are years apart. You are grown up. I am not. I still live in the world of love. Thinking its here. Its not. The same music. The same music. So much can go wrong. So much can change while so much is the same. I don’t think of you as you, but what we were. And it’s sad, that it isn’t in the world anymore. For the world to know, to see, and to feel. It’s all a hazy memory with bright sparks that show up like fire flies but they are gone by the time I turn to look. The light falls on tiny flowers about to bloom, and I realize the light is what I still look for. I still look for you. You burned me. But I forget what you did and look for what you were with me, when I didn’t know things. When I saw no light, it was all dark; I saw no point in light. I loved the dark. I don’t look for the dark. No. But those days can’t leave as yet. It’s going to be a year. A year isn’t enough.

I have to stop. I can’t let me tears be seen. I hide them with glasses. I don’t live by me. The theatre. The air with you and me there. I live for that light. Those times. I keep them all in me, ready to push. Push myself off one cliff, to fall right into another of those happy valleys. The black box that kept you and me. Still keeps us there. We still exist as we somewhere. Me a little more purple, you are a little more red. That black box.

Too many eyes see me here. I want to be there and that is what I fear. This moment I bit my lip, and think of a rhyme and then it dawns that I fake a crime. Why do I say what I say, I feel like I should run away. I feel like a clown stuck in a mime, or a word repeated for rhyme. I cannot induce time. I erase everything I don’t mean to say here, today. I use only my heart, no word of the mind. I stand under this light to fight all that we don’t. The pages we tear to make boats that would float are now all soggy and the picture within is foggy. What stays here, is still your stare. Its still there, on the last chair in the audience up there. I know you are there, here somewhere. But you are not. You said you won’t care. My heart says strange things with a heat. A heat that gets to me eyes. All the time that I rhyme with you in my mind. I don’t write poems. I write paragraphs in line. You are my sunshine. My only sunshine.

Until the piano starts again. And the rain. When it’s all getting dark, the water on the sets reflects our kiss. Your feet under the red sofa, the blue clothes hanging on the clothes lines sense the shiver I give the giver . The times, together. Those times together. These times together. I don’t use the perfume we bought. I hope it never dies out.

The piano, it makes us shiver. It makes me remember. Its not now, it’s the never.

One thing I can never imagine is your touch. The touch that began us, that made me say what I felt for you. As I say this I stop the tear from dropping from my eye. My mother is somewhere near by. It stays on me finger and spreads itself on the keys I play. The keys I play to say what I say. A couple of tiny ears do listen to me. They stare at the words I key.

Music banned by Plato, made little sense though. I see what he might want to see alone in the night while the state was busy. I am thirsty but I don’t drink water for it’s too far away, and suddenly what I say here becomes like a report I write for a disease, a log of what I hog. For the taste that many of us waste in haste is what I crave right here. The sweet taste of water, that we don’t find in our day. And then I know I become so clever to rhyme all these words that I lose what I want to say.

Loss is inevitable, isn’t it?

I hate these words put together like this. They never comforted me. They never will. Don’t use them for me.

The paper today said,

that I shall be an nameless mime, and I was! I am 1st Runner up at Malhar, one of Bombay's inter-college festivals. 1st is Lola Kutty. Mime is not a popular thing. But with me around you will be seeing it more than often. Philippe Genty, I shall see you one day.

My Story

Hey Jude,
Imagine Lucy in the sky with diamonds
while my guitar gently weeps.
Don't let me down.
She loves you ya ya ya
All you need is love.
Live and let die.Yesterday.
Here comes the sun,
I want to hold your hand,
twist and shout,
love me do.
Strawberry fields forever.

Happy Birthday

Hey guys,
its time to be jolly and
give me a big colourful lolly,
It's your birthday!
6th Aug is bugs' budday
7th Aug is this is me's budday.

Hello Goodbye Hello Goodbye

I am a Lucy in the sky with diamonds
my story for the week is that
what I expect doesn't happen.
No party. Only disappointment.
No night I saw. But a magical evening.
A long ride on a bike all the way home
from one end of town in the rains.
I sang many songs
and tasted many rains.
Now I continue to sit with my fingers crossed
as I get more into competition.
People are fun, and I am happy.
I float like I am in a boat on a river,
with tangerine trees and marmalade skies.
The Ace of cups shows up all the time.
My page of pentacles is somewhere close.
I wish to share the rains
in this cold place with him.
It has been difficult to write because of the
rush called life.

Post Card to Self

Yippie! My sister comes to Bombay tomorrow! I will be living with her in a guest house. Away from home... like a little vacation in my city. I can't wait for tomorrow morning! We shall go out in the evening, let's hope the rains don't make it diffcult for us to have fun. Late nights, may be a day of partying (which I rarely do) and peace... away from blaring TV!! The beach? The sea side? I just want to stand on an empty road late at night. I just want to see how it is at night in Bombay. I have forgotten.
Fingers crossed,
chamki
